European Year for Development 2015
The EU has proclaimed 2015 the European Year for Development (EYD). 2015 is the moment to transform the global discussion to the local basis
2015 – the year for setting the course for sustainable development: progress made to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is to be evaluated, a new, UN-led global strategy and new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the decade to come are to be defined and negotiated and the EU has proclaimed 2015 the European Year for Development (EYD). 2015 is the moment to transform the global discussion to the local basis and work together for a global transition.
Climate Alliance’s new project focuses on the European Year for Development 2015. Together with the 16 project partners from 10 countries and in cooperation with indigenous partners, a Europe-wide campaign will be developed. The second main part of the project are three visits of “Southern Counsellors” – the tours will bring indigenous partners to Europe, making use of their wisdom to evaluate pressing European challenges.
To give citizens and politicians a deeper understanding of the interdependent world by presenting the European economy and the global society as consumers of natural resources and showing responsible and globally fair consumption habits, the campaign offers materials, background information and is open for everyone’s participation! The main question of the campaign – How do you want to live in the future – addresses the different target groups of the project, is open oriented, arouses their curiosity and encourages citizens to think about alternative lifestyles.
